Got a Bad Background?

I took this image of the two ducks today and the background wasn't too bad - but it's all dried up leaves and such left over from winter so I converted a duplicate layer to a smart filter and added a ripple effect over the top. I then went back with a mask and took the effect off the ducks. I thought it was kind of interesting - at least now you're not looking at all those boring dead leaves! :D
