Hey folks. Happy Friday. Today's funny may not apply to some of the younger crowd or those over seas that didn't see the "Little Rascals" (our gang) on TV. Silly show from the 50's with Spanky, Alfalfa. He's the silly looking one with his hair standing straight up, out of place...and the rest of the gang. :p;):D
Sorry Al.. a subtle ALFALFA joke. Don't you remember?? I know you are OLD enough to have watched the original airing.... unlike me who only caught reruns a decade later ((((runs and hides))))
Oh boy, I loved the Little Rascals! Born in 1947, as a child I was glued to the new-fangled box called "TV" whenever they were on and was hopelessly in love with Darla Hood. Thanks for the memories and a very funny picture! Hal Roach was a genius...
So nice to see these familiar faces again! I can still hear The Little Rascals theme music in my head. Does anyone remember the square birthday cake that when "weemp, womp?" Kills me every time! :p
A history note about the series: its origins are actually in the 1920s when the episodes were silent short subjects and called the Our Gang comedies. TV stations subsequently aired these for decades. It's unfortunate they're not aired anymore. Occasionally, stars like Mabel Normand and Harold Lloyd from the Roach Studio which produced these would make guest appearances. Sadly, most of the children in the series have passed away. Jackie Cooper (born in 1922) and Robert Blake who stood trial and was acquitted for killing his wife (born in 1933) are still with us but I'm unfamiliar with the lesser-known actors.
