I've posted a version of this much earlier; http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...4886.....where I used a much stronger & warmer flashlight. This was done the night before with just a headlamp to illuminate. I've also gotten better in PP'ing with tricks I have learned here......so I am re-visiting some of my eralier posts to see how much I will improve them. I've re-done the post above.....and you can also see the difference in the e-zine article I did on night photography.
Canon 1D Mark lll with the 17-40mm lens at 17mm for 25 sec. at f4.5 and ISO 6400....all mounted on tripod w/ball head....bubble level and painted with headlamp for entire exposure.
PS....here's the link to re-work of the 1st post; http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=18902

Wow, Roman, that "rocks" :D. I definitely like this version better than the very bright one you linked to. My own druthers would be to bump up the light on the rock and foreground just a tad -- but that's all in the eye of the beholder. Very nice shot indeed.
Like the color temperature of this one a lot more then the previous post. The stars are so magnificent. Really wonderful being out in the west on nights like this.
I like this but that other is still such an eye catcher. The snow is a nice extra to the scene as well. Seems you have some hot pixels in the rock, lower left. Doesn't ACR auto remove them?
