Just arrived back from the Kgalagadi where we had a glorious time:) The weather was not as good as usual, quite a bit of rain and overcast skies which is very unusual for that part of the world. However, we made the best of it and it forced us to be creative:eek: I captured this image of a lanner hunting doves in horrible light, late afternoon, very low grey cloud. Therefore the 3200 ISO. I was surprised at how well the camera coped. I did some serious noise reduction on the background.
Camera Model: Canon EOS-1D Mark III

Very good result for 3200ISO and considering the bad light conditions. I like the fanned tail a lot and the left wing position but I would prefer a more extended position in the right wing a better head turn. Don´t take me wrong, I think that this is a fantastic image But maybe you have another one from the same series with a better head turn and wing position. Composition works perfect for me. As always, excelent work Chris
The Mark III really shines in this kind of condition. You handled the ISO noise very well, particularly in the plumage. The fanned tail, look-back and BG are great, if the far wing were higher up, it would be even better.
Hi Chris. Good to know you are back and posting some great shots again. It is very impressive with the ISO 3200...the MK III is a very capable camera, but I think you needed to expose it right and you nailed it.
I like the beautiful spread and pose, very nice looking bird. Well done.
