I had a handful of daffodils and a very overcast sky so I decided to go the "diffused" route. I overexposed by 1 stop and used a shallow aperture to get the soft look in camera. Then I brought it up further in pp using a lighten layer & some added gaussian blur. I masked off the daffodil and desaturated the flower in a separate step, adding back the color in the orange cup and leaving the yellow petals at half their original color.

Sweet !!! I particularly like the natural look after the enhancements, lots of time it just overpowers the image. Might only want to move the flower left !!!

Beautiful Jules, agree with Alfred-might just add a sliver of canvas to the right. The translucent look of the vase together with the BG color is just great! There are slight halos around the flower.
