    I was very happy to have this juvenile tern pose on the beach for me, and am reasonably happy with this image despite the head turn not being ideal.

    50D, 100-400 at 400
    1/1600, f/5.6, ISO 250

    Aidan,

    Head looks totally parallel so that's good. Light looks soft which is good but I might try a tad more contrast to see how that looks to you. I would crop some down from the top and perhaps the bottom. Pano might look good here too.

    Thanks Robert, I'm glad you think the head turn is OK. At a higher magnification it looks as though it is slightly tilted away, but it is barely noticeable.

    I'll have to play around with the pano idea.

    Your welcome Aidan. Posting from a different computer and the contrast looks good here. On well - that's why I said see how it looks to you.

    On the head turn, I notice that you are a bit behind the bird. You can tell that from the legs. If possible, try to get a bit in front of them and the head turn issue become less problematic though you still have to watch for it.
