    Default Morning Spoonbill

This was taken on my tour during the morning shoot with James on the Hooptie Deaux. Last one....I promise;)......but just wanted to show you all....that it's an all day affair......with many different opportunities. I liked this one up against the mangroves and "caves" (where the spoonies go in)......&how the dark green sets it off in the diffused morning light. too many spoonbill images.....is a nice problem to have!
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the Sigma 300- 800 @ 800mm for 1/4000 sec. at f7.1 and ISO 640....alll mounted on tripod w/wimberly head. Noise reduction applied to BG.

I like the angle and breadth of the wings and the nice soft light. It does seem that against this background the Spoonie should have more vibrancy then it appears.

Roman, Your re-post does look better. Nice angle and pose! The dark BG adds a nice touch.

Roman, please keep 'm coming...these are beautiful. The repost is surely an improvement.

Perfect shooting angle and I love those legs hanging down. I hope to get something as good as this of our Eurasian spoonies this year.

Roman, you kept capturing great landing poses! I like how, in your repost, the bird still seems touched by nice, soft light but has enough vibrance to capture my interest. My only comment to add to the ones above is that, on my uncalibrated office monitor, I find the feet blending in a bit too much into the background.

Lovely landing pose, and the repost is much better. I am puzzled by the EXP: 1/4000 sec. at f/7.1, ISO 640. All of my Mark IIIs do spoonbills in bright sun at 1/1600 at f/8, ISO 400. Your EXP extrapolates to 1/2000 sec. at f/8, ISO 400, 1/3 darker than my EXP for bright sun despite the fact that you had soft light. It would seem that your EXP had to be a least one to two stops under....

The feet show fine against the BKGR in the repost on this calibrated monitor with a perfect calibration strip.

    Hey Artie,
You definitely made me scratch my head on this one......although I think I know the solution......It was sunny 16....not overcast???....can't be 100% sure but I am off 1/3 off your settings....and sunny 16......I set to that and then check for the blinkies.....although looking at that shadow......couldn't have been that bright....never really thought about it B4. Histogram in Breezebrowser shows touching just past 4th box......2/3 off???
PS Just checked todays shooting.......at your setting equivalent.......I get the blinkies in Breezebrowser on mallard whites......as the sun was sunny 16 today......it had to be "normal" light during my post......sorry!
