After Fabs' great purple martin image, I thought I'd post this pale second. I like it because it's a bit of a different pose and the purple sheen is visible. It's a fairly large crop but I'm glad I was able to capture some eye contact and the pretty plumage.
Hey Beth,
these guys are rockets!!! You are definitely working the technique....because at 1/1600 of a sec. .....this is tack sharp! I really like the translusence of the wings.....wish for a better HA....but still....pretty impressive capture of this species.
Tough bird to capture photographically Beth. Well done! Great wing position, and I like the way you picked up the purple color. A slightly better head angle would help the image. I agree with Axel about the fringing.
Thanks very much for the suggestions! I considered a vertical crop but decided against it as the bird was fairly small in the frame. I'll give it a shot, though.
Good for you, they are the easiest of birds to catch, I couldn't get any males this time around. The 100-400 also is no the fastest lens. I think you did pretty good.
To correct the fring, go to the lens correction tab in ACR, look at it 100% and play with it.
