    Hello Everyone,
Hope you have had a great weekend. Here is a picture of a varied thrush that I took today at Buttertubs Marsh here in Nanaimo B.C..

    Stats: Canon 50D, 500 f/4 with 1.4X, Taken at f/9, 1/30 sec, ISO 250

    Thanks for looking,

    Steve

Not too bad for 1/30 s/s. Tight in the frame with a less than ideal BG.
Well exposed and killer head turn.
    Keep them coming.

Common where you live maybe but a beautiful bird. It's funny, I just wrote this in another post a few minutethes ago: When the bird is facing away, the very best head angle is almost always exactly parallel to the imaging sensor. Any more than that (as in this image) is too much. And here, the bird's head is actually turned past the light and is somewhat in shadow (even though the light is soft it is from the right). Love the feet and the sharpness. Overall a bit too tight in the frame.

    Thanks Brad,
I think that I will do a bit of work on some of the nubs sticking out of the branch he is sitting on. Already did a lot of cloning in this photo to try to get the background into shape. These guys like to dig in the mud so I re-created his beak as well to make it look clean.
