Is this image boring? Do you look for flight patterns when composing flocks or just shoot and hope for the best-This is my first flock of Ibis. I took this image while in Florida at Anhinga Trail

Hi Denise - personally I would be loooking for some type of pattern that attracted my attention, or at least envisaging a crop of the larger scene.

I like this - has a nice feel to it - I like the composition and find my eye wanders from bird to bird within the frame. The different wing positions also make it intresting - IMHO.

Denise, I like the image very much; it is not boring for me! And I like the positions of the birds and the varied sky colors in your image, also. I would only wish the birds were a bit sharper . . . (I personally take what I can get in composing multiple BIF, then i clone-out as needed).

    Hi Lady Denise,
Birds in flight, especially when they are flying in groups as large as this one, is difficult to get a solid stable formation. I usually target a small group close together and work the capture. I would recommend on stopping down your aperture setting and select an f/8 or an f/11 with a higher shutter speed solution if possible so that the depth of field will be better for you and the birds will be a little sharper. I would clone out the last Ibis to the lower portion of the frame...hey for your first flight formation; it's not bad at all...:) I like it...now you know what I'm going to ask you to do right...:D Yes...practice, practice, and practice your flight grouping and flight pattern. I will be expecting more to come soon...:D:cool:

I like this Denise! Beautiful sky and the variety of wing positions is very nice. I find my eye is led through the picture very well. Good job!

Agree with comments !!! Do like these type and find them more difficult and challenging !!! My biggest suggestion for making is keep following the flock and watch it as it changes in flight ... just like looking for a head angle .. then make your image !!! I like it a lot !!!

I remember when you took this one, it actually caught you off guard. I think it came out great, I might just get rid of the last 2 that are out of any kind of pattern.
    Congrats

Oscar, I was thinking just the bottom one-but maybe you're right I should clip the 2.
