Another from the gannet colony - Bg is all natural (Wish the slighlty darker line was not there) .
Cropped a tad, sharpened a tad.

    Lance:

Nice vision. Very pretty, soft light, nice head angle, colorful lores, nice catchlight.

I like the comp and sharpness.

I would remove the down on the beak.

Hope you have some more to share!

    Thanks

    Randy

    Hi Lance,

I like this very much. Gorgeous colors and light. The pose is pleasing with engaging eye contact. I debated with myself a bit but, ended up agreeing with Randy on removing the down on the beak as it tends to draw my attention.

Lovely light once again Lance. I'm ambivalent about the down on the bill.

Love it and love the down on the bill- it just emphasises that we capture real-life situations and not studio set-ups.

I would run a round of sharpening to the face and bill, and increase the contrast a tad.

Thanks for the comments .... Have to say I wouldn't remove the down - just doesn't fit with my personal ethics I guess ..

Good int on the sharpening and contrast John - I applied some sharpening only a teeny amount - didn't want to over do it.

Very good image. I like the way you balanced the background and subject with flash.

Good use of flash, Lance. I love the colours and pose. Agree on a little more sharpening on face and bill for web presentation. I am always amazed at how many gannets seem to have a piece of down stuck to the bill!

    Gorgeous!
I "third" the need for a tad more sharpening.
