I struck out yesterday, so decided to present one I like from long ago . . . don't think I've posted it before. (I know the rascal got a little beyond me before I snapped the picture.) The image was pretty tight in the frame, so I increased the canvas size a bit, which was easy to do given the solid pale blue background. Is the heron's placement OK now?

Hi wendell - good looking bird - sharp to boot.

feels a little tight to me - always good to leave a b it of space for the bird to fly into - agree with your self assesment re flying past you. Would tone tone a couple of hotspots on the bird (probbaly not over on the original)

Is that the moon OOF in the bg behind the birds rear wing??

Hi Lance: My, my . . I'd like to say it's the "moon OOF", but it is simply sloppy clone-work on the blue sky . . . I should have noticed it before my post!

Nice and sharp Wendell. Some of the whites are looking like they are on the edge. I am wondering if -1/3 EV would have been better?? Wings are in a good position and you got him before he passed you.

Thanks for commenting, Jackie; I agree, the whites are close . . . and minus EV would have helped. Though I must confess that when this exposure was taken I was unaware of the availability and effectiveness of camera EV adjustments -- can you believe it? And I've still got even more (probably pretty elementary) "stuff" to learn. Comments such as yours re. my posts on this site are helping me a lot!!!
