While I see some problems with this image, I am not going to try to retake it--even if I saw that clump of ice and snow balanced on the twig! Crouching in that freezing water was no fun. But that is how I found out my boots were snow boots---NOT water boots. I held the camera down to the water's surface and shot blind. Eventually came up with this image. I tried some fill light, but couldn't get it to where I liked it, so came back to this image. I like the center of the image, but to me, it seems kind of boring.....

would love to hear what you think.

Cheryl, I think it's interesting-I especially like the starbursts at the bottom of the frame and the clump of ice is nice. If this were mine I might try to bring in a bit of blue in the sky-but this is lovely as presented. Sorry about your boots!!

Thanks, Denise. (Actually, I knew ahead of time that those boots leaked. But I thought I could keep my feet on the banks. yea right. lol And once your boots are full of ice water, you might as well go into the middle!)

lol, It could be interesting Denise, to start a thread of everyone listing the foolish/dangerous situations we have gotten into to get a photo, or to list the injuries we had gotten.....
hey, I figure it's worth it if the photo is good enough!! At least that is what I am thinking every time I get in those situations. lol

Cheryl, I think this is really cool (awful pun, fully intended  ).

Maybe one possibility to perk it up is to darken everything -- I used a curves adjustment layer -- and then paint the highlights back in.

Very nice and well seen Cheryl. Starbursts look great. Think I like you original as posted.
