Photographed this afternoon. There are still 60,000 snow geese in this area. The image is full frame.

Very cool. Nice exposure. I know the horizon is straight but the sand can fool your eyes!

Very nice, Axel. I really like the two tones with the pale earth and dark BG. DOF covers an amazing amount of the flock. What are the 2 darker birds on the ground?

    Axel,
This one is lovely. Inclusion of the ground makes it better, rather than just a flock flying.

Tony, the two dark birds are immature blue morph Snow Geese. As for the horizon, I wish that we could see the end of the dirt field; I'd be betting that this image needs some CW rotation. Could be wrong though.
Love the way that you have left a clean lower edge. While I too like the overall design, I wish that the individual birds in the mass were more evenly spaced.

Thanks, Tony! As Artie said, the two dark birds are blue-morph snow geese. Here is an adult bird: http://www.pbase.com/axelhi/image/11...7/original.jpg

Axel, I really like this . The BG in the upper half is very complimentary. I like the huge flock together tightly-it's interesting!

Great that you got both birds on the ground and a lot in the air Axel, it may be an optical illusion but it does feel like it needs a bit of cw rotation.

Thanks, all! I have to look at other images in this series since the horizon is not really visible in this one. If I remember correctly, there was a slight slope.

Love the density, these shots are so hard to do well, the balance between resting birds and flight is just right
