I love the Smokey Mountains and sunset is one of my favorite times of the day. I photographed this image with my Canon 40D handheld. ISO 200, f/8.0, 1/640 sec, EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM, 70mm, Evaluative Metering, Auto Exposure, Auto WB, No Flash. I love the layered silhouetted look, is it too dark? Comments Welcome......

    I love it!
Maybe a bit more contrast on the layers of silhouettes
    but also good as is.

    Hi Mr. Waas,
Nicely composed and executed...I like the multiple layers of clouds and the different tones and hues...my recommendation would be to increase the contrast and saturation just a hair...good show...

Increased contrast and saturation. What do you think?

Richard, This is gorgeous! I'm going with #1 as there seems to be some posterization in #2 probably from the saturation increase. The silhouette along with the layered look is really nice!!Colors are great also-You could smooth that posterization out with a very low setting on the blur tool if you wanted. But I don't see it in the first one. Well done!! You have such a good eye!

I just wanted to point out that while on my laptop the brightness
and contrast of the image is fine, on my desktop the image is too
dark, even with brightness on the monitor 100%.
    It is tricky with monitors...
The laptop is Lenovo X60S, monitor is Dell UltraSharp.

Agree with H. The first one is more natural. Love the colors.

Both are equally impressive and would pick one or another according to mood !!! .... now I'm seeing everything intense so will go for the second :) ...hope to like the first one soon :)

Love the layers with depth and precise positioning !!! Really nice !!!

I love these kind of shots Richard with all the different layers. Beautiful colours and I like the highlights on the edges of the clouds. Very dramatic. One for the Epson 7900:) !
