    Pelicans are great subjects, so why not post some more! A bit tight in the frame, plus a feather is clipped. Zooming out with the lens you had would have been the thing to do. The high sun has made the wing cast a nasty shadow across half the body, and I'm not too crazy about the zig-zagging vertical streaks in the water. You did well to keep the highlights in check, plus focus is spot on - good sharpness on the pelican.

    Stuart:

    Nice wing position and head angle.

    The light was a bit harsh and off angle, casting the harsh shadows. The left wing tip is clipped.

    Hi Stuart - Nice pelican - agree with all of the above - sun at your back were possible - however we all know that its just not possible sometimes due to the location - think you did the best you could have (except for the wing tip) under the circumstances.
