I know there are several users here with the 800mm. I haven't been able to find any full sized samples from the lens - can someone help me out? I know it's asking for much, but if there were some sample RAW shots available that would be even better, to even out any processing differences. Obviously I don't need any great images, just snapshots at wideopen or other apertures/with TC would be great.
Right, I have seen Artie's images, but there is only so much you can glean from web-sized samples. As I would be moving from a 600, I would really want to look at a full sized image at 100% to see if the difference is really that noticeable. Again, I don't need any great images, just snapshots to have something to go by.
Thouugh image quality is largely a factor of operator skill and camera I do feel that the images from the 800 are exceptional. Images from the 600 are also outstanding. As I have written, the huge advantage is not having to use TCs or having to use the 1.4X instead of the 2X. In each case the book is that you will create images that are about 14% sharper....
