Zoltan, a lovely capture! The bird appears to be looking at something above, or is this a normal behavioral posture? I like the way some of the thorns on the perch echo the shape and direction of the upturned bill. Nice neutral mottling of BG allows the bird and perch to stand out well, but sacrifices a sense of depth. At ISO 160, you had plenty of latitude for increasing DOF slightly. At this resolution at least, there appears to be some softness in the focus. I've noticed that in my own 40D, especially in combination with the EOS 100-400mm. Perhaps a slight selective sharpening of the blue head feathers and eye would be useful.
I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Yes, she watched a sparrowhawk above. Craig, you are absolutely right about the sharpening and a bit more DOF also would be nice but I didn't want to stop down any further, because of keeping the "homogenous" bokeh. Thanks for your comment!
Wow, this is just great! I absolutely love the chosen comp. Although a vertical would also be good, this is way better as a horizontal with the thorns of the perch given a chance to shine (but not out-shine) along the kingfisher which is doing it's best to mimic them! Congrats!!
