I think. Quick glance though the images and looks like loads of super ones! Will comment soon I hope.
Been much busier, non-photo, than I would like with last Thursday capping off one heck of a week. Our neighbors house caught fire. No one was home except their lovable slob of a dog Jack, who they thought didn't make it but did..Major miracle. The house, while sided, is block which kept damage very low, polyurethane makes for one impressive fire, really impressive, some was on the porch. I have always felt our village fire department was tops, they truly are. Or houses are only about 20' apart, old neighborhood, scary doesn't quite do it. I have never ever been so glad of the old girls (our house) foot thick brick walls,( interior and exterior), and slate roof, she would have been the fire brake for the rest of the block if things got out of control. That thought still freaks me out.
However Jack made it and that made the world a brighter place, as the owners said the house just didn't look all that bad.
Thanks for listening
hi Nonda - glad to hear you are OK and Jack made it out :)
You have a good Ha with nice eye contact - exposure looks good details in your blacks and whites within range. Bg does compete with the bird a little would try toning it down a tad.
Terrific sharp downy. I love it's posture.
Well done.
House fires, in fact almost any free ranging fire, is so powerful and so terrifying. Glad all are safe.
Take care
Gail
Thank God you and the hubby are safe! Must have been quite the adventure for poor Jack! BG sucks but what can you do sometimes :) Maybe a tighter crop to the downy, but like the pose and detail.
the BG, Kurt cutting down Don's J.Maples isn't an option and blocking them isn't either, you know how Don is;) I've learned to embrace funky BGs:D Now if the little darling (bird) would just use one as a perch.
Jacks ride must have been wild since he was in the room where all the smoke was and when they found him he was non-responsive, fire folk tried. Then later as they were just making sure all was ok a fireman yelled hey he just looked at me! Jack then got up walked out the door and relieved himself. The next morning when they came back to the house I went over to see how they were all doing and you couldn't have gotten the smiles off their faces.
Hi Nonda,
I like the capture...My recommendation would be to crop just a hair from the left side of the frame and crop 1/4 from the bottom to eliminate some of the negative space which is not adding anything to your composition, also agree with Mr. Peters on toning or desaturating the background and applying a pass of 10 percent blur...looking forward to your next one...good show...
Heh, understand the Don love affair with his trees! Looking at this again, you might also want to hit the top of the downy's head with the dodge tool a bit. Looks like a shadow fell across it just where the BG starts to darken.
Glad to hear all is ok with you guys. I haven't been around for a while so I didn't know. Your image is great, specially the BG. Sure wish for a little head turn though.
Regards,
