I know I won't win any points for originality with this species, but I snapped this one on a slow day a few weeks ago and thought it showed off the beautiful feathers on his back quite nicely. I toned down the whites a smidge so they wouldn't appear quite so hot, and removed a branch above the bird. I toyed with the idea of removing the OOF branch above the perch but thought the image was too plain without it. Eager to hear what folks think on this.
Thanks!

Great color, nice sharpness, pose quite good.
I wish the BG branch was not there but...
Actually I don't this the Blue Jay is as often presented
here as one would expect. Great bird!
Hi Graham - You have a good head angle and good eye contact, colours are very nice and sharp throughout - OOF branch in the BG is what it is. Good work.
Very nice! Shows off the blue jay's colors and markings quite well. Like the over the shoulder look. I'm okay with the BG branch, might try blurring it a bit.
I think it is one terrific image - and worth a lot of points for a wonderful portrait.
The beige of the perch and the brown bg play off against the blues of the bird very, very well

Reason: additional comment
the perfect post to show off the most colorful side of this bird. Great feather detail.
These birds are so flighty, I know how difficult it is to get a good image. The only thing I would change is to remove the small white spots on the back twig, as they keep drawing my eye there. I might tone down the green on the back perch also while working on the whites.
