The day job has been keeping me busy the past couple of weeks, and getting out this morning with the camera couldn't have come any sooner. I found this chukar out at Antelope State Park here in northern Utah. I was pleading with this noisy bird to take another step forward and show off those feet, but my request went unanswered... lol. I was still pretty happy with the overall look of this one.

    John:

Lovely bird, nice head position, sharp.

The side lighting works here because of the head position. With the head turned this way, you don't see the shadow you would normally expect on the right side of the birds face (left side of the image).

The colors in the background are very interesting. The blue goes well with the bird, just not sure of its effect on the composition. Our brains tend to expect blue at the top!

By the way, good job leaving room on the bottom for the virtual feet! I got busted yesterday for clipping them. I guess the rule that we use for water works for rocks too?

Glad you got out. It is good therapy, for sure.

    Cheers

    Randy

Details, calling pose and eye contact are great. Too bad this bird was so ignorant. :)

Hate it when they don't obey. Still, a lovely image, with nice detail, color, and bg.
