    My wife and I took a ride down to Barnegat Inlet (NJ) today to have what will probably be our final look at the Harlequin Ducks for this year. While there, we came across this single Black Scoter swimming in the inlet.

    Canon 50D; Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS w/2x TC; tripod-mounted

    1/800 sec @ f/7.1; ISO 400; +2/3 EV

    Very nice job on the exposure with this bird.

    I like the eye contact, soft light and calm water and might desaturate the yellows a few points.

    Thank you Mundy & Axel.

    Axel, I did play around with backing off on the saturation on the yellow and didn't like how it looked. So in the final edit, I left it as is out of the camera.

    Challenging exposure situation here, Ed. +EC good to get detail in the darks - you may have been able to push it a bit further except for the beak. Agree re desaturating the yellows a bit.
