    Really cruddy overcast today (at least it was warm!) and I wasn't going to post this but I figured I'd let you folks tell me how bad it does / doesn't look.

    Nikon D300, 500 VR, TC14EII, ISO 1000, f6.3, 1/2000, CW metering, NearUniWB preset, +.3 EV compensation

    Jim:

    I am glad you posted this. Nice looking bird, with fun crest, great colors in beak and eye, nice exposure,composition and angle in frame.

    How big of crop was this? It seems just a bit shy on detail, and I know your gear can crank it out.

    Show us some more of this fellow if you have them. I don't believe I have ever seen this guy in Michigan.

    Looks pretty good from where I sit Jim - a very nice flight cature and I actually like the beige toned sky as a back-drop. Nice one..!!

    Lovely image, does lack some detail and the shadows are blocked up but timing was spot on.

    It looks pretty good to me despite the high ISO. I like the pose, light and the BG looks good, too.

    I like this one too. You did an excellent job with what you had, plus I like the head, eye, and wing position.
    The color of the background - we are used to seeing "boring" blue adds to this.
