I found this Broad-tailed Hummingbird at El Taray reserve, Sierra de Arteaga Coahuila. Eventhough a fire destroyed everything a year ago this hummers were abundant
Canon 20D, Canon 400mm f5.6 at ISO800 speed 1/800 also using a monopode and Tamron 1.4x extender.
It is a beautiful image. The background, the focus, the colors all are excellent. The proportions of the bird and the frame are a bit different for my taste. For a specimen photograph for use as an inset in a magazine article, this is an excellent image, but for a cover, I might ask for a little bit more room on top and right of the frame. But again as I said that is my preference. Nevertheless an excellent piece of art. Congratulations and thanks for sharing the image.

very nice post
perfect natural lighting, great pose, excellent exposure and sharpness control. I might have cropped a little more of the left side. I guess the perch shows effects of the fire - can't change that
one minor nit/suggestion : with this pose, a slower shutter speed and higher f stop might have gotten greater DOF on the tail if the bird was stationary
well done
I like your composition here Fernando presenting a close-up view of this exquisite little hummer. I love the spot-light effect on the head and neck. Well done!
Sharp and a nice basic design. I like the pollen on the bill but not the misplaced head feathers. With the light from the left the right side of the gorget is a bit hot while the shadowed throat is on the dark side... My advice is always the same: point your shadow at the bird. Doing so eliminates contrast problems and lots more.
later and love, artie
