The positioning of the bird in the bottom left of the frame suggests that it is descending to land. The bird's proximity to the left edge of the frame creates a tension that makes me wonder whether the landing will be a clean one. I think this tension could be heightened even further by adding more canvas at the top of the image.

Great capture and eye contact. I like the repost but would put the bird higher in the frame and remove the trunk in the BG.

Great action capture Peter but would just like to see a bit more canvas for the bird to 'move' into.

Pete, don't you love it? Three different crop suggestions. Good luck with your choice!

    Thanks for the comments guys....
    Bit on the image......

Just out of shot to the left is a feeder. The female chaffinch kept coming to the feeder from the right and would hesitate before landing on the feeders perch. This was my second attempt at the shot. In all it took about a 20 mins to get this shot.

If I gave any more room to the left the shot would be ruined by the feeder. I do have another of the bird coming in but the wing angle is right behind the birds head...
