That is one cool looking bird and what a beak. Good positioning for the landing though I would prefer the head with sky BG and not the wing. More room below for the landing and a bit more room above so as not to crowd the wing tip would be good. As looks like a bit more sharpening is needed. BG certainly works well here and reminds me of my Homer eagle images.

    Nice work Per-Gunnar.

Per-Gunnar.... What a great shot! I envy you! I was hoping to get a few shots of them this year and I went to look for them. My client took me to the place he said they come in January and February (Ogata mura, Hachirogata, Akita Prefecture) but this year they didn't come. My client says that the whole lake freezes and they are on the trees on the age of the lake or just resting on the ice. This year the lake didn't freeze, there was no even any snow.... Maybe next year! Cheers!

Stunning beauty! I agree with Robert's comments and I would also suggest a bit less room behind the bird. Sharpness looks pretty good to me.

Thanks guys. Robert - what do you mean by "I would prefer the head with sky BG and not the wing"? Not sure I understand :)

    Per-Gunnar:

I am sure Robert would prefer to not have the merge of the head with the wing, rather it be against the sky background. It would stand out much more distinctly that way.
