    Default Red Winged Blackbird

Snow squalls on the mountains were blocking the late afternoon sun. 40D, 400DO + 1.4xTC, f6.3, 1/125s, ISO 800, -1/3EC, tripod mount, MLU, cable release, slight crop.

Fill flash would have helped to bring up the details but all in all, exposure looks AOK here. Nice perch and the bird calling both create strong diagonals. BG soft and non-competing for attention.

Nothing like an open beak, fluffed feathers and a clean sharp eye on a RWB. To me they are one of the most desirable song birds in breeding plumage we have in Maine. I like you choice of pose and comp. Nice looking perch. Flash sure wood have been nice, but you didn't. So it is still a nice image as is.
