Most people know I'm a geek for a low perspective. Whenever I have a chance I always explore the potential a lower perspective has to offer. I made this image last Saturday out on the Hooptie Deux with my dad and Philip Pietri. I like to see how close I can get my rig to the water before I fire the shutter ;)

    Shooting Solution
    Nikon D300 | Sigma 500mm f/4.5 + Kenko 1.4x TC (700mm) | Manually focused
    Manual Exposure | 1/2000 @ f/6.3 | ISO 400 | Mongoose M2.3 on Gitzo 1440 legs | Pretty darn close to full frame ;)

    All comments welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks for looking :)

Seems like you're just like me...the lower the better. This is sweet Blake....just about the right hight IMO. I like how the low angle brings intimacy to this photograph. Simple, but perfectly executed!

A lovely portrait Blake. Very finely exposed too.

Very nice, Blake! Couldn't ask for a better spoonbill portrait. This image has a tranquil feeling to it, the bird looking very relaxed.

One of the nicer spoonie portrait images I have ever seen.

Well done. Nice exposure, nice low angle, nice axis to the light, sharp as a knife and that's pretty much all there is to it.

Nice pose and sharpness. The photo is simple and elegant. Is that a sand bar behind the bird? It sort of makes me want to see how the image looks with a little CW rotation.

Just wonder how you could manage to get so low on the HD :)
Anyway, a lovely image. I like it. Fits my style for sure.

Doug said: "The photo is simple and elegant." I agree 100%
And the exposure looks better on this image than your last.

As I remember the faint line in the background was a trace of a slightly diagonal shore.
