Default While I'm waiting for my Osprey to return from Vacation

Canon 40D, 100-400 L IS at 400mm, f5.6, 1/640th, ISO 400, handheld, ACR adjustments to increase fill light, slight contrast increase, CS3 sharpening, cloning out some trash limbs here and there, BG noise reduction, a bit of dodging on the wings.

Osprey shot from last year, needed a fix to tide me over for a few weeks :)

Spooky look on that bird Kurt !! They are intense !!

I like the pose, look and clean bg Perch is complementing Might want to see more room around the sides and top. Wish you had the exp comp Looks like you gave as much light as possible, some whites are on the edge and still blocking shadows ...soft light is about the only solution. Got a keeper !!!

Forgot to add the comp ... +1EV (which is a little more than I normally use on osprey in this light) and spot metering, and I did end up having to recover some highlights in ACR. I can give her some more room at the top and wings.

Recrop, in the interest of it being bedtime did not clone out the unsightly mess or dodge the wings or curves , etc.

Love the pose kurt - feels much better with the little bit more room. As mentioned only way to improve would have been soft light. Like it a lot :)

    Hi Kurt,
I like thew spread wing position. you have sharp details and good color rendition...I like that sharp eye...I would suggest on adding a tad of room on both sides of the frame to give him more flapping space...:D:cool:

I could go to more of a pano crop with this, anyone think that would help with the bottom and flapping space for the wings?

Great capture Kurt. Excellent wing position and eye contact, as well as the background.

Very nice Kurt, maybe a little more room everywhere except the bottom. Great action capture! Looks like a pretty tough exposure and you did well.
