    Default Harlequin Duck

    Photographed last weekend at Barnegat Light. I wanted to show the beautiful plumage from this perspective. It is more or less full frame, I just cropped a bit off the top.

    It's a bit tight in the frame for my taste. It looks like some of the darks are too light. I have two monitors at work. One is Calibrated and one is kind of dark and contrast-y. The image looks good on the dark one. I do like the 'look-back' and the image is sharper'n ****. Excellent background too. Beautiful subject - thanks for sharing!

    Oops. I didn't realize I couldn't type the "h" word. My bad. Haha.

    Thanks, Philip, and interesting point. I noticed the contrast difference, too. It looks right on my calibrated desktop monitor and a bit too bright on my calibrated laptop monitor.

    Axel;

    Nice technicals. I think it met your goals of showing off the plumage.

    From a purely subjective standpoint, it doesn't impact me as much as the early Harlequin posts. Not sure why.

    Excellent DOF control. I would prefer a little more room on the right but difficult if full frame. I like the pose.

    Agree with the above and would like a tad more canvas but really like the pose and details in this one.

    Great pose if a little tight. I'd multiply the whites in the head.

    These are gorgeous ducks and I think this shows off the plumage well Axel.

    The vertical comp works great and I like the angle, the look back is very nice and maybe a bit more room would have been nice too. Colours are excellent. I see a faint fair sized circle directly to the right of the eye halfway between the head and edge of frame?
