    Default Hooded Merganser Glow

Shooting with Roman Kurywczak yesterday I noticed some nice light so I waited for the Merganser to get near it-I was too far away for a great shot so I decided to do a scenic style. I added a Glamour Glow in Color-efex to the BG. Tried to crop it using Fabs advice. Had trouble leveling it-

A very sweet image Lady Denise.
I like the soft glow effect applied. Your duck is placed just right in frame and I like his head position tucked in his feathers...my only recommendation would be to sprinkle a tad of selective sharpening on the eye...well done...

Your friend has the eye...:D I like this on the best, it places all of the attention on your duck...well advised...I give it my seal of approval...:)

I like both crops Denise. I love the glow effect-that really adds to the image. I do think the duck could be a bit sharper and me, personally, I would have liked him to be entering the frame instead of leaving. Still, I like the image...it's beautiful!

Julie, The only problem w/ him entering the image would be that he would be looking out of the frame-

I like the second one better....it's like he's looking at the glow....or keeping an eye on it. Do you select the area that glamour glow is applied to??? If you can....or want to play around....move the hoddie so the glow is 1/2 way into the body.....and then you can do a vert with the original...more room up top. The ice will make a nice curved leading line. I would eliminate the whiter band at the very top. Had fun yesterday with you and Mike..like ducks in a pond.....got some killer hoodie images.
PS added crop to better clarify....if you can move the hoddie or the orange glow......like sunset on the lake.....of course...then crop tighter:D

First thing I thought was the crop from the top Makes bird larger in frame and looks balanced. btw with these ducks you always need to fix the eye, looks goofy on their own ... nothing to do with focus, movement etc. Mighty fine image !!!
