While shooting flying/action photos, I set a relatively fast shutter speed and high ISO because of the low light available. I shot an exposure check on these three and ended up liking the result.

    Thanks for looking

That is a rather nice "family" picture! With the one bird looking in the opposite direction this image would look good as a centered vertical, with perhaps a bit more canvas above. Selective NR on the BG only would really clean this up nicely. What a great find :-)

Though I agree with Daniel on the vertical crop I also like this crop very much Joe. The close grasses that are more in focus are below the eagles so don't compete with them. The OOF BG above just right to higlight the birds. More room to the left works as two birds facing that direction, vs. the one facing right. Head turns good on all (not easy to get that) and the right bird over the shoulder gives us a look at the back plumage.

The perch, obviously a sawed down tree may not be preferred but a natural perch may not have allowed these birds to get into this pleasing position. Well done Leo.

    Joe:

I like this a lot. The texture and detail in the dark feathers is very nice. I like the family grouping and head angle as pointed out. I think yours and Daniels crop would work well. Since the lover bird is looking to the right, he needs some room too, so I am leaning towards your present crop. I might clone out the one large cat tail that is level with the adults head.

    Thanks for sharing

Joe, this is a wonderful and unique image of these BE's. I love the setting and the different pose of the bird in front. I would love to see this as a vertical as well although the horizontal is nice as well.

I pray for one. You got three in a great image. I would love to see it as a vert.

Thought I would try the vertical crop as requested.

    Joe:

I really prefer the original. The vertical loses some of the tonal range and doesn't have the impact.

Hi Joe, the vertical needs to have the same amount of space left and right. As Randy states, the repost has also lost some of its original quality (sharpness, light quality).

Another vote for the original crop. I love the open spaces feel and the sense of freedom and the environment IMO adds a lot to this image. Stunning capture Joe.

Ditto on #1 Wonderful find--I am OK with more enviornment surrounding the birds--There are a lot of them--and they need the space! Good stuff!
