    40D, 1-400L @ 260mm, f5.6, 1/400s, ISO 1600, +1/3 EC, tripod mount.

    Image design just right. Agree on the treeline Steve but it is what it is. The elk looks great and the head position fine. Body position definitely shows him walking so that is portrayed well. Grasses are pleasing background.

    Very peaceful scene that looks somewhat washed out to me? The grass and body of the bull seems too light, bt of course, I was not there.

    I like the walking pose, the light, sharpness, colors, and patterns in the vegetation - lots for the eye to explore. I see what you mean about the tree line - the light green area in the ULC tends to draw my eye away from the more interesting parts of the image. If you were in the mood, you might try quick-masking some trees to that spot. :)

    Very lovely composition and the grasses add a lot to this pleasing capture and a great elk specimen. Thanks for sharing Steve.

    Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. Fabs, you may be right about the washed out look. Did a little selective darkening and it came out a little more to my liking.
