I'm interrupting my recent Florida images to bring you one from my first outing since coming back home into the cold winter climate. I was hanging out with fellow BPN member Stephen Stephen when we stumbled onto this beautiful male Common Redpoll perched about 8 inches off the ground, all fluffed up and basking in the beautiful sunshine to absorb (and keep) as much warmth as possible.
...back to Florida images shortly:)
Canon 40D + 100-400L @370mm, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/8, ISO 400, +1 EC, handheld, just about full-frame.
Now that is more like what I am having for weather right now! Love the colors, red, and the determined look in the eyes. He is wishing he were in Florida right now!
Very nice. Excellent exposure, snow looks nice and white, without blowing out the bird. Sharp, nice DOF, good head angle, nice comp. I like that the perch is the right size for this bird, nice sense of scale to it.
The fluffed up look is a real bonus, really emphasizes the cold, adds to the story your picture tells.
You have really captured the feeling of the cold weather in the fluffed up feathers of this little redpol. I like this a lot Daniel and the composition is excellent with an wonderful BG. Congratulations !!!
