I posted my original pass at the nice reddish, about 10 days ago. I am on the steep part of the learning curve re:
post processing, and revisited the original to see if I could get some more pop.

I did a bit of contrast increase, set the black point, and cropped it just a bit. The original follows.

No change in saturation. The gold water comes from condo reflections at Little Estero

Paul, since you mentioned needing a red for your files , maybe this will push you along!

Randy, you did a good job of popping the subject and brought out the detail. One small part you lost in the process was the reddish color in the beak that you had in the original. The colorful backround helps the image enormously....

Much better "pop", deeper colors and brighter too. Expecially the red maine. You lost the flashed look with the recent post, a good thing. Your definitely on the right learning curve.

Well...it is a steep curve! Great improvement....

I don't know if you used adjustment layers to improve your work, but if so, it would be fairly easy to selectively tone down the bill a bit.

Like the others I really like the results of your post processing work on this image, except the bright part of the bill. The subject pops nicely, and the golden colours of the reflection are much richer.

Asides the tweaks to improve the image, this is one great looking effort getting this beautiful bird on such a stunning BG. You are certainly moving int he right direction on improving it. Nicely done.

Big improvement over the original. This one "pops" right of the screen. Comp. is much better as well.

Great improvement. I might take the midtone slider to about 0.90, tone down the bill and convert to the regular sRGB (it is Nikon sRGB, just in case this makes a difference).
