First image form the D50 and 500 IS !!! Passed first test with flying colors Bird was coming in for a landing and it was mostly a quick reaction. Slight crop from left and bottom. Wish I had more detail on the far wing but no light hitting are so best to go with the flow.

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

The D50 is as strong as a heart attack... the color processingchip on this baby is an improvement over the D70s...and yes you passed with flying colors...I like the flight capture angle...you have sharp details...a sharp eye and the background compliments your subject quite well...congrats Maestro...:)

P.S. and besides...it's not the camera, but the person behind it...:D good show...

.... and with the 1.6X crop factor becomes an 800 f 4.0 :) ... can do lots of damage with that !!!

Alfred, See you got your 50D AND 500 !! Looks like all is well with both!!! Nice image and wing position! That crop factor is a double edge sword!

Your right about the crop factor Denise !!! I do carry a 70-200 f 4.0 IS which works great with the 1.4X ..takes no room. If heavy use of the shorter lens is anticipated in the working area will just mound on a spare body :) ...170 to 400 effective focal length !!! ... and carrying the 100-400 is always an option at 160-620 :)

Love all the feathers fanned out and the position of the bird in the frame Al. Lovely BG. What's this about a doulble edged sword??? Could be too close or losing IQ Denise with the crop and TC??

Very nice shot Alfred. Agreed, it is a shame the far wing is so dark, but great detail in the rest of the image.

What really impresses me is how well the anhinga stands out against the tree BG. I can barely ever achieve that with the osprey I shoot around here.

Jackie, When I was in Florida some of the birds get pretty close and w/ a crop factor it brings you in even closer and sometimes its too close! Don't have that problem in Jersey too much!
