I love the blacks and BG on this one, and the way the light is hitting the subject. Sharp as tack and perfect head angle.

Agree with Fabs on BG and blacks. This is tack sharp, you must be very happy with the 50D. This image further convinces me that a 50D should be backup to my 1DM3. Congrats, Alfred!

Thought you were a Nikon man Alfred, A friend of mine has just been testing a 50D and was quite impressed until he used ISO800 and then said the grain was quite pronounced-Fine portrait with bags of detail

Love this one Alfred. It has all the elements of a great bird portrait- pose, comp, BG, super sharpness, eye contact in spades, I could go on. I think you will like your new setup. It would be valuable and instructive for you to eventually provide a "pros and cons" vis your old system- in another forum of course.

Very cool portrait of this bird Al! It actually has a nice "mane" going on here. Love the head angle too.

Welcome back. =) I always laugh at people shooting the vultures but this guy has some nice tones on the head. Thanks for making me rethink shooting them.

Outstanding image Alfred. Excellent detail, lighting, and head turn and a killer BG. Love it.
