This was taken yesterday in La Jolla.

A passing storm turned the water black.

A wonderful image James. I'm loathe to crit such a powerful photo but I do wonder if it wouldn't be even better with less sharpening and a little of the bottom cropped off?

I like this one James - The pelican is well placed in the composition and the white foam of the breaking wave is a perfect backdrop for the pelican's darker tones. Nicely done!!

This is a very dynamic image. The breaking wave and the BIF work well together. The composition is simple but very efficient. Like David, I would love to see less sharpening...
    Very well done !

Great action shot. A little oversharpened. I don't think cropping more off the bottom would improve the image.

Does not look oversharpened from here. In fact, I would like to see the eye and face a bit sharper. Do agree on the wonderful placement of the bird against the white of the breaking wave.

    Hi,
Love the position of the pelican in the waves and also the capture of the way the waves are splashing.

I love that action of the wave behind the pelican. I think this is one of those images that looks even better enlarged......as in framed and on the wall. Well done.

Very dynamic and full of movement and the composition couldn't be better. Very well captured.
