    Default Galapagos Fur Seal

This is a bull Galapagos Fur Seal (not to be confused with the Galapagos Sea Lion :) ) photographed on Santiago Island. These fur seals are nocturnal foragers and have relatively large eyes. Perhaps related to their nocturnal behavior, their eyes tend to have an odd glassy, vacant look to them. 20D, 70-200 f/2.8 at 200mm, 1/320, f/7.1, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

Cool looking creature. The rocks are interested forms, patterns and shapes and go with him well. Good pose and alert stance. See what you mean about the eyes.

    Hey Steve,
Neat looking seal. Love the ears. Good detail on the fur and I also like the volcanic rocks. I might lighten up the shadow in the ULC to get a little more detail but not too much as the shadows gives some depth.

    Steve,
I like the pose and sharpness. The rock face is lovely. Superb texture. I would love to have the rock in the bg covered by the dof as well. I would have wanted to move to the left, if possible, to remove the dark portion on the upper left corner and also to get more of the rock behind it in focus. Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers,

I like the look o his eyes, not vacant to me, and the habitat you have included. Wish you could see a little more of it.

Very nice portrait Steve, I like the volcanic (I assume) rocks that he's posing on.
