    50D 300/2.8 IS + 2X TC
    1/1000s f/5.6 at 600.0mm iso500
    Trees and surrounding foliage cast a different light on this heron. Full frame, in fact, I added some canvas here.

    WOW this might be the best GBH in flight that I have seen:eek:. Sorry but I can't think of anything that would improve this IMO!!

    Talk about close. Careful it might pass too close Bonnie! :) I like the straight across wings mostly.

    Bonnie:

    A very nice GBH. As mentioned, very nice diagonal comp, with fine head position.
    I wonder where the original focus was. The eye, although very bright, seems a bit soft on my old monitor, so I suspect the focus was further back on the bird. I was amazed that you got the feet and the head in decent focus with that f stop.

    I like that the bill is mainly clear of the wing. I always seem to get a merge in this type of shot.

    I might try it just a smidge lighter, to see if the bird would pop out from the background a bit more.

    Thanks so much. Definetly a different look for a GBH.

    Great pose, details and BG. I might adjust the midtone slider to make it a tad brighter.
