I was out on the river a month or so ago and found this barge stranded on one of the sandbars -- water was not being released from the dam about 20 miles upstream. Anyway, I thought it made an interesting subject in the evening light. C and C appreciated.

Hey Mike,
I like how you minimized the sky and concentrated our attention on the stuck barge. Normally I do like sidelight when dealing with sand and such but in this case it may have made the shadow side of the barge too uninteresting. Maybe playing with curves, levels, and SH will help bring out a bit more detail in the barge and strengthen it's impact. If I get a chace later....I'll try it myself.....let's see if someone beats me to it!
I must of had similar thoughts about bw -- I converted this image (slightly different angle) soon after I took it. I'm going to play around with it a bit more...
I think this second post is much stronger compositionally as the barge onthe left better balances with the trees and land on right. I would have included a bit more of the trees in right to make that more prominent.
I suggest a crop from the bottom above the footprints too to strengthen the impact of the barge.
Of course he was that wise..........one of our founding fatherrs a lush...That's sacriligious Robert...he just enjoyed the finer things! Keep the grape......I like real beer!
