Good evening. This is my first post. I look forward to improving my photography skills, as well as learning how to use my first digital SLR that I have now had for one year. I will also mention that I have never used photoshop. I just got elements 6 and an instructional book, this week, so I hope to teach myself some basics. At this point, it is very overwhelming!

My camera is the Canon Rebel XTi. The lens used was a 75-300 IS at a focal length of 185mm. I used aperture priority of f/6.3 and ISO 400 which gave me a shutter speed of 1/125. Partial metering mode was used and I honestly don't remember if I handheld this one or used my tripod. The Bluebird landed on an artificial Poinsettia in my backyard . I cropped it a little using picasa editing software. Otherwise there were no adjustments made.

Thanks for taking a look. Any comments will be appreciated.

Hi Glenda, this is a nice first post you show here.
I like the composition, you made. The bird is placed in the right area, and looking straight into the picture. Well done!

    Welcome, Glenda
You can post a much larger image. The exposure and composition look good. I think this would work better if the head were more in a profile position. It looks like you're off to a good start.
