I was going through some files this afternoon and ran across this Spoonbill I took a couple of years ago. I have darkened the background as an artistic expression. Things are picking up at Corkscrew, the water is going down and I hope in a couple weeks to see some pretty good action at the North and South Lakes. We have a nesting Eagle with 2 chicks on the south end, however the public is not permitted to go there, the eagle can sometimes be seen from the boardwalk, but not enough to merit a trip. I'm doing my exhibit at Corkscrew during the month of March so if you in the area please stop by. Thanks Rod

Interesting dark BG. I find the perch somewhat distracting but you did well keeping the light colors under control.

I like your spoonie. If your feelings about it allow, I wonder how much cleaner an image it might be with the stump cut off above the horizontal cross member. Since you have already changed the background, perhaps that would be acceptable, and I think it would really clean up the image. Just my .02

I really like how you were able to bring out the textures on those overlapping wing feathers. I really like the mood of this image, and actually don't mind most of the perch as it reminds me of a wooden sculpture. I would keep the actual branch the spoonbill is perched on and the large curved trunk but look into eliminating the BG branches. I would also give it a bit more room top and bottom.

My only nit you might say, is the wing touching the perch. Love the mood you created with this one. I like the action of just about to take off.
