    Default Great Blue Heron

    These guys are shot commonly. Notwithstanding, I still enjoy viewing the shots. But here, I wanted a different perspective. Straight out of the camera at these settings:

    Canon 50D + 500mm f/4
    f/10
    1/1000 sec
    ISO 100

    Colin;

    I like the idea, but I find the vertical posts distracting, esp. the closest one. I might crop a smidge off the bottom and right, so reposition the bird a bit, and then clone out the middle post.

    Just my .02.

    I like the idea, composition and agree that cloning out the two posts would strengthen the image.

    Thanks! I was wondering about posts....should they stay or go. Thanks for the C&C.

    Yes, the posts should go but I wish the heron was on a better "perch". I would also crop about half of the water at bottom. Otherwise nice silhouette, nicely seen and I like the interesting effect of those highlights in the water.

    Colin:

    To my eye, much stronger. Getting rid of the posts helped a lot, as did the cropping. I like the bird a bit bigger in the frame as it is now.

    I agree with Randy that this image is alot stronger on the repost. Good job!
