I think black-crowned night herons, both juvenile and adult, are among our more beautiful and innocent-looking birds -- in spite of their unexpected ferociousness which I've witnessed when they "take" baby ducklings. A week ago I spotted this little fellow in a typical pose, high up in the brush . . .
I like the pose and surrounding, stands up well against it !! Would turn saturation down and crop some from the right to have him a little closer to edge ... great spacing up/down !!
Hi Wendell,
I like the capture, agree on the cropping from the right to off set your bird and to tone down the greens...you have very sharp details and a good head angle with a clear sharp eye...congrats...
I like that this image really stands up with the surrounding habitat. Not always possible. It becomes a vivid portrait of the bird. Well done.Like the fact that the bird is right at eye level too.
Agree with the above suggestions about the crop and try de-saturating.
