Ah yes, light. I make my living with light - not by capturing it (sadly), but by releasing it in great quantities onto large surfaces. This is the projection booth at the Kodak Theatre just before the Oscars. I have been a projectionist on the show since 1996. You are looking at eight industrial-strength video projectors putting out around 100,000 lumens of light, six of them lighting up a 62-foot screen with color bars, and two projecting images onto side screens.
1D Mk II, 20mm f/2.8
Aperture priority, f/5.6@1/5, evaluative metering EC -1 1/3 ISO 800
One-shot autofocus on mono-pod
Hi Kerry,
I have an idea...do you think I can use these in my studio, or as a high intensity speedlight...:D
I love it this is great...What's the projected lumen on these babies, I assume they have internal cooling fans...
Each of those projectors generates between 12,000 and 18,000 lumens - which is 12 to 18 times what an average boardroom projector makes. They have lots of fans and generate heat in the order of 20,000 BTUs each. We had additional fans in the booth, but with 13 of these bad boys and 7 press photographers in there it was a bit toasty in the tuxedo. ;)
Gus, these would make excellent fill lights for your studio, and they can make any color plus images! :D
