These Warthogs are fighting over territory and breeding rights in Samburu, Kenya. The temperature is well over 100F and the red Samburu mud is already beginning to dry on these two combatants. These were the loudest "pigs" I have ever heard. This is a slide scan so no detailed exposure data is available. The light is a bit contrasty, but I hope you like my image anyway. C and C welcome, I'm here to learn. Thanks for looking. - John

John, you did it again -- caught another intense, pivotal moment in the lives of the animals you encountered! Showdown at (nearly) high noon!

I think you handled the exposure very well in that harsh, hot light. The high reflectivity of the ground helped bring up the shadow values, and you caught the highlights of the drying mud and tip of the tusk without losing detail.

    Hi John,
Must have been a little overcast........as judging by the shadows.....it was pretty close to noon......and you didn't blow out the tusks! The action here is very good.....in the ideal world.....more of a turn to the wharthog on the right....but on the plus side....both eyes are visible.....and that is no easy feat on these guys! Well done on the BG too.

Nice work getting that action plus exposing in this sun with slide film I am assuming.

The scans are looking real good John.

Thanks, I learning a lot. My error, it was late last night when I posted that image, the media was Kodak E100 VS slide film. - John
