Roseate Spoonbill from yesterday.
Nikon D300 Sigma 300-800mm @ 600mm

Artie went low and I went high.
I wanted to create images of Roseate Spoonbills landing without the distant shoreline in the image.
To do this I set up on the Hooptie Deux with my tripod hight at about 30".
The boat and tripod combo put my lens about 4.5' above the water. I was able to use this setup while sitting in a swivel chair(life can be hard).
One of your best Spoonies, partner, great golden light, absence of shadows and high contrast, beautiful EXP and the total wingspread, what more can you ask for?
You already know this is the best spoonie you've posted James. And I dare say the best I've seen too. I know too many people say that all the time. But in this case; this is the best so far! Your spoonie landing with blue sky is the second best!
Thanks for brightening up my day here in Maine. We have a nor'easter going on right now with 12+ inches expected.
Two exhausting full days out on the bay and you still manage to create magic. I'm sure the comfort of the swivel chair was instrumental in making this happen. Not really much I can say about this. It's everything you could want in a spoonbill landing...clean background, beautiful light and lots of action. Awesome.
Not shabby. Love the raised feathers along the top of the inner part of both wings in additon to all mentioned above. Just for the record, the next 4-6 weeks will be absolute prime time for breeding plumage spoonbills.
