    Default Sunlit Pine Needles

Took this one late afternoon back in February. I liked how the sun spotlit these pine needles. I'm not sure this shot turned out quite the way I wanted. What do you think of it?

    Olympus SP-550 UZ
    f4.4 @ 1/125, ISO 100, -1.3 EV
Aperture mode, pattern metering, cloudy WB
Processed in PS CS2; cropped, curves adjustment, and saturation increase

hmmmm, i like the sunlit needles, and the detail is nice. it's the composition i'm not sure about. will let the others chime in and see what they say.

Hi Chris - like were you were heading - you do have nice detail in the needles.

IMHO - the bright highlights in the BG are distracting from your main subject, the cut off needles on the LHS tend to lead my eye out of the shot - Just MHO.

    Keep them coming :)

    Hi Christopher,
I like the concept, but the oof light flares are distracting from the main subject, compositional wise, I would have composed a little wider to include the needles that are out of the frame...looking forward to your next one...

Thanks everyone! I knew this shot didn't quite work, but your comments have helped me see exactly why it doesn't work. As soon as I can, I'll post another shot of this subject that hopefully is an improvement. Thanks again!
