back on the Hooptie Deux. This image was created with the Canon 800mmm f/5.6 L IS lens and the 1.4X II TC and the EOS-1D Mark III. ISO 400. 1/1000 sec. at f/10 set manually after histogram check. In my lightweight waders, I was seated behind my lowered tripod in a foot and a half of water on a sandy uphill slope. Lots of beach clean-up in Photoshop CS-3.

Cool pose, reminds me of an ice skater. Great details and exposure, too. It looks as if the white sand helped with the harsh light.

One of the best images of spoonbill I have seen Artie. Background with 3 color tones and gradual progression of colors is excellent.

Welcome home, Maestro, terrific come back image :)

The colors are striking and as Axel mentions, the underwings look very good with the sand as reflector. The tri-color BG is awesome.

Great posture, great use of DoF to get overall sharpness (as expected:-)) lovely underwing detail. Overall an engaging, sparkling image.

I thought of an ice skater first off! I'd say you really made out on the exposure and it is very sharp. Direct eye contact too. Love the lifted foot. Lovely pink colors.

Hey Peter, I would have loved to have gotten lower but my underwater telephoto lens was in the shop! :D

A classic Birds as Art image Artie with the viewers eye immediately drawn to the beautiful left eye.
Would be interested if you have a second image with the bill turned slightly left to reveal more of right eye also.
    Beautiful colour tones.
